The Madras High Court ordered notice to the State Government on a plea seeking direction to fill up the 122 teaching vacancies that are there in aided colleges in Chennai.

Chennai
A division bench comprising Justice S Manikumar and Justice Subramonimum Prasad allowed the petitioner to implead the Government aided colleges where the posts are not filled up. The bench then posted the plea to April 3 for further hearing.
The petitioner had contended that 122 teaching vacancies remain unfilled in Government aided colleges in Chennai City and therefore the quality of education suffers. He also submitted that a representation in this regard was sent to the concerned authorities on December 28, 2018, for filing up the Assistant Professor vacancies in Government aided colleges in Chennai. But the petitioner failed to receive any response so far.
Special Government pleader Kadhirvel took notice on behalf of Higher Education Department.
