Minor fire affects vehicular movement on Pamban bridge
A minor fire broke out on the Pamban road bridge in Ramanathapuram district on Tuesday night, affecting the vehicular traffic plying on it.

Fire and Rescue Services personnel arrived at the spot and swiftly extinguished the fire.
However, residents in some parts of Pamban experienced power outages in the wake of the fire accident. Power supply resumed at 2 am. Cables laid by BSNL also suffered damage due to the fire. Technical experts from Tangedco and BSNL were involved in restoration works on Wednesday. A electrical short circuit on a portion of the cable meant to power lights on the bridge is suspected to have caused the fire, sources added.
