Floral tributes paid to Kurangani fire victims

Subsequently, Panneerselvam, Collector Pallavi M Baldev, Forest Department officials and members of Village Eco Development took pledge on wildlife conservation and norms that are required to be followed necessarily for safe trekking. They also took part in the plant sapling programme at Muduvarpatti in Kurangani.

The Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated the programme to plant 30,000 saplings in the Kurangani forest area.

Later, he also launched the pulse polio immunisation drive at Mundhal village in Kottakudi panchayat and also at bus stand in Bodinaickanur. Children up to five years of age were administered polio drops. As many as 799 booths have been set up across Theni, at localities including Theni Government Medical College Hospital, government hospitals, primary health centres, schools, noon meal centres and bus stand.

The district administration has mobilised 3,426 field staff to ensure full coverage. In addition, 13 mobile teams and 44 transit teams were also deployed to carry out the vaccination drive in hilly areas and remote localities. The officials have set a target of covering 1,04,000 children during this polio immunisation drive.
