3-day ‘Spark 19’ fest held at VIT University
The changing scenario in industry and how students should be ready to meet such challenges were the highlights of the talk given by E Elangovan, principal secretary, Kerala government while inaugurating the three-day Spark 19, an annual festival for students of automation engineering at the Vellore based VIT University recently.

Highlighting the need for road safety and accident prevention, he called upon students to understand how automation was changing the industry and thus be prepared to meet challenges.
The second day witnessed workshops and an interaction with Qurize technologies CIO Bobby Mathen Verghese. The workshops saw 200 external and 100 internal papers beingpresented.
The final day’s highlight was the visit of Upendra Nath Singh, technical fellow for sensors at USA’s NASA. He spoke on LiDAR which measures distance to objects by sending a pulsed ray of light and measuring the reflected pulse with a sensor.
Those who participated include S Vivekanandan, director ISA (International Society of Automation) at VIT University and S Sivabalan, dean SELECT at VIT.
