AIADMK poll deal: DMDK insists on 7 seats
Even though Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam tried to convince the DMDK leaders to bring them into their alliance fold, DMDK leaders are firm on their demand of seven seats.
Chennai
In the meeting with DMDK chief Vijayakant, Panneerselvam stressed for alliance, but according to sources, both Vijayakant and Premalatha, DMDK Treasurer, stood their ground in their demand of seven seats, which they wereseeking from day one of alliance talks.
Panneerselvam tried his best to convince the family members and also assured them that AIADMK will extend favours to them but they did not budge.
However, the AIADMK is no mood to concede more than four seats, said sources.
Panneerselvam also assured a Rajya Sabha seat for BJP, but the DMDK is demanding seats equal to PMK in the alliance.
Sources also said that Panneerselvam was desperate during the talks to rope in the DMDK into the alliance and wanted them to share the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The BJP leaders too have passed the instructions to AIADMK to rope in the DMDK at any cost and so AIADMK leaders are trying their best for sealing the alliance with the DMDK, said sources.
Sources further added that announcement of alliance will have several compromises and might even surprise many in the AIADMK alliance.
