DMK president and Leader of Opposition M K Stalin on Friday asserted that his party was not against any religion or community.

In a video, which was released on his birthday, Stalin alleged that a few people were indulging in a campaign against his party by claiming that it was opposed to certain religions.
“Our party is not against any specific individual, any religion or any community. Some people are adding colour to that. The claims are not true. We are against only the fundamentalists,” the DMK leader said.
Alleging that a few elements in north India want to ensure a single language in the country, he said their attempts will fail in Tamil Nadu.
“There is social justice in the State. Hence, the people of TN will not accept it. We cannot tolerate fundamentalism being imposed here,” Stalin said, adding that people should come out and oppose it.
Coming down heavily on the AIADMK government led by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Stalin alleged that Tamil Nadu had lost its self-respect at the hands of the BJP-led Central government.
“It is a matter of regret that the State government bows to the Centre’s heeds.”
In an appeal to his party’s functionaries, Stalin said, “Our cadre should work hard to get back the State’s self-respect. In addition, they need to save the people from the clutches of fundamentalism.” Stating that the three concepts of social justice, self-respect and brotherhood is the need of the hour, the DMK leader said his party functionaries should reach out to the people and educate them in this regard.
