9 Lakh to appear for Class 12 boards starting on March 1
The fate of 8.87 lakh Class 12 students in Tamil Nadu will be sealed as their State board exams is all set to begin on Friday.

The exams will be conducted from March 1 to 19 in more than 2,944 exam centres across Tamil Nadu. The Directorate of Examinations has made arrangements for exam conductions under tight security. Sources from the Directorate told DT Next on Wednesday that in Chennai alone about 49,419 Class 12 students will appear for the board exams, held in more than 40 exam centres.
“This year we have deployed more than 4,400 members of flying squad who ensure free and fair conduct of exams”, a senior official from the Directorate said. The controller of exams will monitor the activities at the Chennai headquarters.
Stating that during the conduct of Board examinations, it becomes an absolute necessity to oversee the arrangements to ensure free and fair conduct of examination, the official said, “hence, an examination control room is opened in the directorate, which functions from 8 am to 8.00 pm.”
The official pointed out that for the first time CCTV cameras will be at vital examination centres to prevent malpractices. He said in addition to CCTV cameras, extra security personal will be deployed to safeguard the question papers. He said cell phone were banned for invigilators inside the examination hall, with teachers not being deployed as invigilators in the examination centres in their same school.
Stating that secured system of transporting answer script bundles through a special vehicle from the examination centres and to collection points has been adopted, he said “this system will safe transportation of answer scripts in time”.
Directorate of Examination have sent a circular to all the higher secondary school instructing the teachers not to put more pressure on students during examinations
The students were also instructed to carry hall tickets without fail and without that the candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam. No books were allowed carry even inside the school campus.
