TNOU’s 82 among 100 courses okayed by UGC
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given recognition for over 100 courses in the higher education institutions in Tamil Nadu through the open and distance learning mode for the coming academic year.

Accordingly, Tamil Nadu Open University has received the maximum recognition for conducting as many as 82 courses including both bachelor and post-graduationdegree programmes in 2019-20.
Similarly, the commission has also recognised a total of 30 courses for University of Madras during 2019-20.
Sources from the UGC told DT Next here that the admission for UG and PG courses for the coming academic year wouldbegin in February 2019, while the academic session for all the courses would begin in July 2019.
Tamil University, one of the oldest institutions in the State, would conduct 15 courses for UG and PG. Anna University has got the UGC’s nod to conduct only three distance education programmes, Masters in Computer Science, Masters in business administration (MBA) and Masters in computer applications (MCA).
The commission further said that for the programmes found either deficient or not recognised as per the provisions of UGC, the institutions would be provided an opportunity to make a representation.
Higher education institutions in Tamil Nadu were asked to comply with all the provisions of UGC. Sources said that if any deviation by the institution is noticed, the recognition to conduct courses would be withdrawn.
The commission has directed all the universities to upload the admission details within 10 days from the date of admissions during the academic session.
