Jayabalan who ended his life, in a suicide note has said that Renugopal, the manager of the Kaveripakkam panchayat union took a loan of Rs 10 lakh from him and did not pay the interest or the principal amount.

The deceased also claimed that Renugopal had taken Rs 23.50 lakh from several people through him promising to get them jobs in government departments. But he neither kept his promise nor returned the money. “Because of this those who gave money have started pressurising me. Unable to give them with a convincing reason,” Jayabalan said in his note.

On Tuesday, relatives of Jayabalam met Arkonam AIADMK MP G Ravi along with MLA Ravi and submitted petitions demanding immediate action against Renugoapal. Both the lawmakers promised to take action on their demands.

Relatives also blocked Banavaram-Kaveripakkam main road pressing their demands. Efforts by police to pacify the protesters and ensure normal flow of traffic were of no avail. Further investigations in regard to the case are on.
