    Ditched by AIADMK, minor party approaches DMK and Kamal Haasan

    A Chennai-based educationist and media baron, who was hopeful of getting a seat in the AIADMK camp, has approached the DMK and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) after the BJP failed to pay heed to his demands.

    The BJP has told the fledgling party leader that they have only been allotted five seats and it would be impossible to apportion one from their tally. The national party was learnt to have advised him to approach the AIADMK directly, prompting him to open channels of negotiation with the DMK and Kamal Haasan.


    The educationist-politician, who met a senior MNM leader at a star hotel in the city on Sunday, had also sent feelers to the DMK for a seat, a leader in the DMK-led alliance revealed.


    Though a section of the DMK leadership was favourably disposed to consider his overtures, a few other senior leaders are averse to accommodating a fledgling party, which was holding negotiations with the AIADMK till a day ago.

    speculation was rife in the DMK that the leadership hasmade a four-seat offer to Vijayakanth’s DMDK whose treasurer Premalatha on Sunday spilt the beans by admitting that Stalin had discussed serious politics with her husband.


    Sources privy to the negotiation said the DMK has planned toscale down the allocation toCongress by two seats in theevent of the DMDK defectingto its camp.


    The hectic parlays between the DMK and DMDK has put its talks with Left parties, MDMK and VCK on hold, the source added, predicting clarity by the weekend.
