DMK to felicitate Stalin to boost cadre morale
MK Stalin might not have completed even a year at the office as DMK president, but the principal opposition party has already organised a felicitation for him. It is the first since he took over the reins from his father and five-time chief minister M Karunanidhi.

The party backed TV channel, Kalaignar News, has planned the event titled “Udanpirapugalin Thalaivar” (leader of DMK cadre) on the lines of the felicitations once the party had conducted aplenty for the late DMK patriarch Karunanidhi.
Dravidar Kazhagam president K Veeramani, MDMK leader Vaiko, lyricist Vairamuthu, Congress leader Peter Alphonse, Suba Veerapandian, writer Tamilachi Thangapandian will speak on the “cadres leader” at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam on Monday.
The organisers have carefully chosen the titles “Son of Muthamil Arignar,” “unmatchable administrator,” “expectation of India,” “voice of the oppressed,” “One among you” and “dream of the youth” to celebrate the DMK president, who will be leading a major or rather first Parliamentary elections in the absence of his father and master strategist Karunanidhi.
The event has been scheduled a week ahead of the birthday of Stalin, who, understandably, was learnt to have planned to abstain from the felicitation. Significantly, VCK, minority and Left party leaders are missing in the list of guest speakers. In the same breath, the organisers have conveniently skipped the topic “electioneering prowess of Stalin,” who has yet to prove his bravado on the poll front.
Though critics might consider it a tad too early to have a toast, party leaders argue that it could be an occasion used to lift the morale of party cadre ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary elections.
