Alliance with BJP temporary, says Anwar Raja
A few days after the ruling party entered into an alliance with the BJP-led NDA, Ramanathapuram AIADMK MP A Anwar Raja stroked a controversy by claiming that the poll alliance is a temporary phenomenon. “The alliance is only for protecting the AIADMK. Our party will anytime oppose the Centre’s move to table the bill on Triple Talaq,” he added.

Talking to reporters atParamakudi in Ramanathapuram district on Saturday after releasing a book on ‘Triple Talaq- a violation of rights,’ the MP said the AIADMK’s poll alliance with the BJP is a temporary phenomenon and there seems to be no compromise in its ideology.
Strength in bypolls
He also added that the alliance with the BJP was an added strength to the AIADMK, which had to secure a win in minimum of 18 vacant Assembly constituencies in the bypolls. With 37 Members of Parliament for AIADMK, all strived for the welfare of people in Tamil Nadu. J Jayalalithaa, former chief minister waged a battle against the Centre for the rights of the state in the Cauvery row.
However, he denied that he would quit AIADMK if the party had an alliance with the BJP. Taking pride, he said “I am one of those who developed the party.”
