Speaking to reporters after laying foundation stone for a drinking water augmentation scheme, Vaithilingam said, political parties are in the habit of criticising each other but it will never affect any alliance talk. “We have been holding talks with a few more state political parties and hope more parties would join the alliance and the announcement will be made soon,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said that the DMK introduced the Under Ground Drainage (UGD) system in the then Thanjavur Municipality, but there were many problems in the implementation. Still, the AIADMK continued to implement the project. “The AIADMK, which rectified the problems, sanctioned Rs 93.68 crore under the smart city programme for the UGD,” he added.
He also said that the Karnataka government has been planning to construct a dam across Mekedatu and their plan will never materialise as the Tamil Nadu government has been opposing it vehemently.
Earlier, the foundation laying ceremony for the drinking water augmentation scheme to the tune of Rs 191.74 crore was held in which Minister Doraikannu, Thanjavur Collector Annadurai and others took part.
