VCK leader Thol Thirumavalvan on Saturday urged the State government to enhance the compensation awarded to the families of two slain CRPF jawans to Rs 1 crore.
Chennai
Speaking to newspersons at the city airport, Thirumavalavan referred to the Rs 20 lakh each announced by the government to both families and said the compensation should be increased to Rs 1 crore and a member each from both families should be offered a government job.
Strongly condemning the attack, the VCK leader said the gruesome incident has confirmed the policy failure of the Centre in Kashmir. Asserting that the attack had happened in a place which was under 24x7 military surveillance, Thirumavalavan said the incident shows the weakness and failure of intelligence. “Political scientists have been pointing out repeatedly that the terrorist attack was a reaction to state sponsored terrorism,” he claimed, adding that a democratic solution should be arrived at with the consent of the people.
Expressing happiness over the DMDK leader returning from the US after treatment, the Dalit leader told newspersons that it was for the DMK to decide on holding negotiations with the DMDK for the upcoming polls.
