Krishnagiri to get hi-tech trauma care
A state-of-the-art trauma care and round the clock emergency facility will be established in Krishnagiri district to reduce the mortality in road accidents and the district overall will get medical facilities to a tune of Rs 70 crore, Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar informed the Assembly on Tuesday.

Participating in the question hour, Krishnagiri legislator T Senguttuvan said that the road accident victims in Krishnagiri were referred to other hospitals due to lack of high-end treatment facilities. The MLA demanded a full-fledged medical college and a hospital in Krishnagiri.
To this Vijaya Baskar said only neuro surgery cases were referred to Salem government hospital. The state, in the past 11 months had reduced the mortality rate of road accidents from 10.6 to 2.8, setting a major record in the country. This was achieved by setting up emergency trauma care in accident prone locations.
Such facility has been created in Mahabalipuram, Injambakkam and a similar facility will now be established in Sulagiri in Krishnagiri. Administrative sanction to a tune of Rs 6 crore has already been given to add MRI scans in Krishnagiri and technicians will be sanctioned soon. The state will also look out the possibility of establishing a medical college in future, Vijaya Baskar said. According to Krishnagiri MLA, the land to establish a new medical college was already sanctioned the DMK.
