Congress only brokering deals in Defence purchases, says Modi
Calling the Opposition alliance as Mahamilawat or adulterated alliance, the Prime Minister said that “it is a club of rich people trying to promote their dynasties. The Opposition is only good at spreading panic. Time and again they have tried to mislead farmers, poor and youngsters of the nation. They neither understand poverty nor do they have the vision to serve the poor.”
Hitting out at the Congress at the party rally held in Tirupur, the Prime Minister said, it was only brokering deals without bothering about the Defence sector. “For them, this sector was only about brokering deals and helping their own set of friends… Why every middleman caught has a link with some Congress leader or the other,” he asked.
Further, the Prime Minister said, however, we dream of an India that is self-sufficient in Defence production. In this context, the Prime Minister also highlighted about the two Defence corridors being created in the country as well as fulfilling the long-pending demands of ex-servicemen regarding ‘One Rank, One Pension.’
In a veiled attack on former Congress leader P Chidambaram by calling him as the ‘Recounting Minister’; the Prime Minister accused him of thinking all the knowledge in the world resides only in his brains. “He asked in arrogance as why the middle class is so worried about price rise, they buy such expensive ice cream and mineral water? The people do not need his taunts and have rejected him and will continue to do so,” he said.
Further, Modi said, earlier there used to be family packs for ice creams and mobile recharges, but now it seems there is a family pack for getting bail. “Those who thought they could never be questioned are made to give an account of their loot now,” he said.
