Congress gearing up for LS polls in Pondy: CM V Narayanasamy
The Congress party is gearing up to face the ensuing Lok Sabha election in Puducherry, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said here on Sunday.
Puducherry
Talking to media after Congress party’s consultation meeting in New Delhi on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that AICC President Rahul Gandhi had advised to prepare for the Lok Sabha election and put forth demands for the election manifesto. He added Gandhi would visit Puducherry for the campaign.
Talking about alliance, Narayanasamy said it would be similar to what happened in Tamil Nadu. He alleged that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre failed to provide adequate funds to Puducherry. Files are being delayed and a ‘step-motherly’ attitude is being shown to Puducherry, he said and alleged that N R Congress President and leader of the opposition N Rangaswamy is behind for the denial of funds to Puducherry.
Coming down heavily on Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, Narayanasamy said that he had advised to implement the compulsory helmet rule without causing any inconvenience to the people after creating adequate awareness.
However, Lt Governor on her own had decided to implement the helmet rule from Monday with the help of officers, he said, adding that it is not fair on the part of LG to threaten officials and to act against the public. The Central government is not listening to any complaints about Bedi, he added.
