Senior State Forest officials conducted a brainstorming session at the headquarters here on Monday.

Besides deciding to adopt a wait-and-watch strategy, they have planned to rope in renowned wildlife experts and those with expertise on elephant behaviour. “Wildlife expert Ajay Desai, who had advised us last December, will assist the team deployed on the field and give further advice,” an informed forest department official said.
Chinna Thambi is being driven into the forest and the same will also be conveyed to the Madras High Court, the official told DT Next. According to sources at the State forest headquarters, wildlife biologists will now observe the reasons behind the stray behaviour of Chinna Thambi in detail and relate it with another jumbo Vinayagan, who was recently translocated to the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR).
