Woman visitor held with SIM card in jail
The wife of a convict, who attempted to smuggle a SIM card into the Vellore Central Prison, was caught red handed by the police on Sunday. Though, the woman immediately took to her heels and escaped from the spot, she was nabbed on Monday.

Police said that Kanagavalli is the wife of Vinayagam, who has been serving his jail term in Vellore central jail since 2006.
According to police, on Sunday, Kanagavalli came to meet her husband along with 54 other visitors. When a women jail personnel frisked Kanagavalli, they found a 4G SIM card hidden in her blouse. Immediately, the police seized the SIM card and informed their superiors.
Based on the instruction from the superiors, the jail staff took Kanagavalli for interrogation. Suddenly, Kanagavalli pushed down the staff and escaped from the premises.
Following this, the Vellore central prison officials lodge a complaint with the Bagayam police, who registered a case and arrested the woman on Monday.
