Addressing reporters, Panneerselvam said, “Friendly regional and national parties are in talks with us, but the alliance talks are a top secret. Once the alliance materialises you (media) will be the first to be informed.”
There was a buzz in the political circle that AIADMK had finalised its alliance for the upcoming Parliamentary elections with the BJP and the PMK and the seat sharing talks were on. But the AIADMK leaders have rejected it saying that alliance will be finalised only after the election dates are announced.
However, there were talks that the AIADMK will accept the leadership of the BJP in the alliance. But Panneerselvam had strongly opposed it. When asked whether the AIADMK will accept any national party as head of alliance for the upcoming Parliamentary elections, Panneerselvam replied that as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned the AIADMK will only head the alliance. “The AIADMK is the largest party in Tamil Nadu and so it will head the alliance for the upcoming Parliamentary elections in the state,” he said.
Jayakumar equates Stalin, TTV to wild elephant Chinnathambi
In the meantime, state Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar on Sunday said that the AIADMK is far ahead of other parties in the state as far as elections are concerned. Addressing reporters, Jayakumar said, “We have formed various committees for the upcoming Parliamentary elections such as candidates finalising committee, election manifesto committee, election propaganda committee and all the committees have commenced their works. We have started receiving applications from interested candidates who wish to contest in the elections.” He also said that the AIADMK is like an express train which has started its travel faster and will reach the destination ahead of others.
When asked about the steps taken by the state government to control wild elephant Chinnathambi, Jayakumar said that there are many Chinnathambis in the state politics.
“DMK president MK Stalin and AMMK Deputy General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran are two Chinnathambis in Tamil Nadu politics. They are two politicians who should stay away from their dream of forming government in the state,” said Jayakumar.
He further said that like Chinnathambi which should be in the forest, Stalin and Dhinakaran should be inside their houses and enjoy their lives. “Dhinakaran had swindled crores of public money and he can enjoy his life without entering politics. Similarly, Stalin has a party inherited from his father and he can look after it,” he said.
