Mamata’s dharna, assault on democracy: Ponnar
Restriction on Central Bureau of Investigation and interruptions to the agency probing scams is highly condemnable, Union Minister of State Pon Radhakrishnan told reporters here on Monday.
Chennai
“The act of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and her government is an assault on Indian democracy, her actions reminds me of 1975 emergency period implemented by Congress leader Indira Gandhi. DMK leader MK Stalin himself was a victim of emergency and today the opposition parties are rallying against the BJP.
The opposition can express their views and protest against the PM. The anti-Centre campaign persists only because of democracy that is practised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government in the Centre,” Radhakrishnan said. Commenting about the budget, the BJP leader said that the budget has addressed the issues pertaining to public and farmers. He wondered if the Congress and opposition parties term the Rs 6,000 financial assistance scheme as anti-farmer. “The budget had also announced a pension scheme for those in the unorganised sector and Rs 60,000 crore for the development of rural areas. Congress has been looting the country for decades and their anti-corruption campaign is a farce,” Radhakrishnan said.
No state rights violation: H Raja Meanwhile, BJP national secretary H Raja criticised Stalin for supporting Mamata. “Birds of a feather flock together. When you were in power along with the Congress in the UPA, the CBI has interrogated Modiji, who was then the CM of Gujarat for 9 hours.
Foisted false cases against Amit Shahji, but the BJP has not enacted any drama as your Didi is now doing,” Raja tweeted.
“On May 9, 2014, the Supreme Court has ordered CBI to inquire in Sarada scam case and the Commissioner of Police of Kolkata is issued a notice to appear for interrogation for which he has not responded.
Where is the question of the violation of states right?” Raja asked in his tweet. Meanwhile in Coimbatore, BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao said that the happenings in West Bengal are not in tune with democracy.
“BJP is against corruption, while West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is fighting to save scamsters and fraudsters,” he said.
“She is fighting a losing battle as people will never accept her protest. The West Bengal government has not given permission for the BJP to even hold rallies,” he said.
Rao also said that BJP is in talks with some parties for an alliance for the Lok Sabha polls here.
