BJP to fight elections with strong alliance in state, says Tamilisai
BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday exuded confidence that the BJP will form a strong alliance against the Congress-DMK combine for the Lok Sabha polls here.
Coimbatore
“This election will be a huge turning point for the BJP in Tamil Nadu politics. We will win more seats than the DMK and Congress,” she told reporters in Tirupur.
The BJP leader was here to oversee arrangements under way at Pudupalayam ‘pirivu’ near Perumanallur in Tirupur, the venue for Prime Minister’s visit on February 10.
A 70-acre ground has been readied for the PM’s public meet. “The Prime Minister is visiting Tirupur after 1 pm after attending a programme in Andhra Pradesh. I hope more people will gather in Tirupur than Madurai,” she said.
Taking a dig at the Congress for its promise to waive farm loans, the BJP leader said that many farmers committed suicide only during the Congress rule. “In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress included names of debt-free farmers in the list for waiving loans. The party has been exposed in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh,” she said.
Tamilisai also said that Hindus will not forgive DMK leader MK Stalin for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindu marriage ceremonies. “The DMK is trying to create a division on communal lines. The party however did not open their mouth over Loyala College issue,” she said.
Earlier, speaking at the airport here, Tamilisai said that 72 lakh farmers from the state will benefit out of the Rs 6,000 income support scheme announced in the interim budget.
“Union Minister Arun Jaitley has also announced that Rs 6,000 will be increased further. The budget has also made poor people to realise the dream of owning a house,” she said.
The BJP leader further slammed political parties for showing black flags to the Prime Minister during his visits. “The people should decide, whether they need Modi who takes Tamil Nadu on a development path or leaders who push the state towards turmoil,” she said.
