Rajiv killers owe life to Jaya: Sellur K Raju
Cooperation Minister Sellur K Raju on Saturday said the seven life convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case owe their lives to the ‘alms’ extended by former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Addressing newspersons after inaugurating a children’s park at Kovalan Nagar here, the minister said the AIADMK government successfully moved a resolution in the State Assembly, in favour of commuting their death sentence.
“The move gave them (convicts) a reprieve from the capital punishment. The State government is sensitive to their demands seeking an early release. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami is paying attention to this issue,” Raju said, adding that the government is hopeful of Governor Banwarilal Purohit taking a swift action in this regard.
“Unlike the DMK, which is enacting a drama, the AIADMK would certainly fight for the rights of Tamils. It was the DMK which remained a mute spectator during its regime, when scores of innocent Tamil civilians were killed in Sri Lanka. The opposition party was seldom bothered by such incidents,” he said. Criticizing DMK president M K Stalin, Raju said he (Stalin) was just dreaming of becoming the Chief Minister. “The Grama Sabha meetings conducted by the DMK yielded no public response. Only their cadre participated in it,” he said.
