CM greets Pranab, awardees
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday greeted former President Pranab Mukherjee on being conferred the country’s highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna.

In a statement here, Palaniswami termed the former President a tall leader, who has served the country tirelessly. He had served the nation as member of Parliament, as a union minister in several key portfolios and as the President of the country. “On behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu and on my behalf, I extend by hearty congratulations to Pranab Mukherjee for being chosen for the Bharat Ratna award,” the statement added.
Expressing joy for several prominent persons from Tamil Nadu being conferred Padma awards, state Minister D Jayakumar said that the ruling AIADMK will continue to demand Bharat Ratna for late Dravidian leaders CN Annadurai and J Jayalalithaa for their contribution to Tamil Nadu andthe Tamils.
Leaders of various parties, including the DMK also greeted the former president Pranab Mukherjee for getting the Bharat Ratna and also the other padma award winners from the state.
