According to police, two unidentified youth were proceeding to Chennai in a car. While they were crossing Padalur in Perambalur district on Tiruchy-Chennai bypass road, a 25-year-old transwoman from Woriyur in Tiruchy district, stopped their car and asked for lift.

The youth, who were under the influence of alcohol, mistook the transwoman for a commercial sex worker. With an intention to have pleasure, they allowed the transwoman to board the vehicle. They took her to a secluded place after convincing her.

When they reached a particular spot in Perambalur district, the youth found her to be a transgender.

Police rushed to the spot and took her to Perambalur Government Hospital. Padalur police have registered a case and have launched a manhunt to arrest the two attackers.
