Besides enquiring about their health, she also asked the families of 11 children under treatment about their familiarity with the scheme, which was introduced in September last year.
“Of the 11 children, one is in the new born unit, while the remaining are in the paediatric ward (of which five are in the surgical section),” said ICH Director Dr A T Arasar.
“Each beneficiary of the scheme is entitled to a sum of Rs 5 lakh per year. The ICH alone has treated 3,028 beneficiaries since the scheme was introduced. This has generated Rs 12.18 crore in revenue,” the Director added.
It may be noted that the scheme covers 1,040 diseases. Children from various parts of the State, including Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Tiruchy and Chennai, have benefited due to the scheme.
