No bar on memorial for J Jayalalithaa in Marina: Madras HC
The Tamil Nadu government, in its counter affidavit to the petition had earlier informed the Madras High Court that the decision to construct a memorial for late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was a policy decision and there was no conviction against her as of date.

The Madras High Court on Wednesday heardplea of one ML Ravi, the president of Desiya Makkal Sakthi Katchi against the construction of memorial for the former Chief MinisterJ Jayalalithaa in Marina. The Court dismissed the plea, allowing TN government to resume the constructionof memorial.
The Tamil Nadu government, in its counteraffidavit to the petition had earlier informed the Madras High Court that thedecision to construct a memorial for late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was apolicy decision and there was no conviction against her as of date.
Referring to the averments by thepetitioner that Jayalalithaa was convicted in the disproportionate wealth case,it submitted that the Supreme Court in its February 14, 2017 judgement hadabated charges against her as she had died during the pendency of the appealagainst her acquittal.The Madras High Court on Wednesday heardplea of one ML Ravi, against the construction of memorial for the former Chief MinisterJ Jayalalithaa in Marina.
