74-year-old held for bid to rape minor
Ramiah, 74 of Seethapatti colony near Malai Kovilur in Aravakirchi, Karur was grazing goats in the field on Sunday and spotted a 12-year-old girl who came there for a nature’s call.

On seeing the girl, Ramiah pulled her to a secluded place and reportedly attempted to sexually assault her.
However, the young girl overpowered him and managed to escape from the spot.
On reaching home, the girl narrated the incident to her parents upon which they decided to take the matted to the police. Subsequently, the girl’s father approached the Aravakurichi police and lodged a complaint against Ramiah. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against Ramiah under various sections including the POCSO act.
After completing enquiries, the police arrested Ramiah on Monday. Later, Ramiah was produced before the court and was sent to Tiruchy Central Prison.
