TMC comes out in support of Palaniswami, raises doubts on veracity of video
In a rare support to the AIADMK, Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) leader BS Gnanadesikan on Sunday raised doubts in including the name of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami in Kodanad murder case.

Gnanadesikan, in a statement, said, “The state government should investigate the issue as on whose instance was the name of Palaniswami included in the Kodanad murder case.”
The recent video leaked by journalist Mathew Samuel, based in New Delhi, with the confessions of two accused in Kodanad burglary and murder case, had created ripples in Tamil Nadu politics. Politicians are divided over the issue as opposition parties had demanded action on Palaniswami while the parties supporting the AIADMK had demanded investigation in the issue.
The TMC, which did not come out in support of AIADMK in the past, had now expressed its support for Palaniswami in Kodanad case. Gnanadesikan said that without providing any direct evidence against Palaniswami, one of the accused in the case, Sayan, has spoken to the media on the basis of statement of Kanagaraj, who died after the Kodanad burglary and murder incident.
“Kanagaraj’s conversation with Sayan cannot be taken as evidence in the case as anything can be said about Kanagaraj at the time he is not alive. Kanagaraj’s statements cannot be verified after his death and so there is a suspicion that the video was released now,” said Gnanadesikan.
