Thiruma defends Cong, CPM stand on 10 pc quota in Parliament

“Both the Congress and the CPM share the same objective of promoting social justice, but they supported the bill because of political compulsions,” said Thirumavalavan in Chennai.

Leading his party cadre in staging a protest, opposing the 124th Constitutional Amendment Bill, the VCK leader condemned the Central government for trying to act against the principles of social justice. He also demanded that the Centre withdraw the legislation.

Asked by reporters on whether the alliance with the Congress and CPM would continue after the respective parties supported the reservation bill, Thirumavalavan replied in the affirmative. 

“The BJP is a larger threat to the country. We have to be in the alliance to defeat the saffron party and other Sanatan Dharma forces,” he said.

The reservation is being vehemently opposed by several political parties in Tamil Nadu.
