Old man held for molesting 3-year-old

According to police, C Rathinam (68), a resident of Senthaneerpuram, on Monday evening had reportedly picked up the three-year-old, also from the same locality, while she was returning from school by offering chocolates. The sexagenarian took the girl to his house and had molested her.

On Wednesday, noticing a change in the behaviour of the child, when her mother inquired, the girl narrated the act of Rathinam. Soon, the parents of the victim rushed to the Golden Rock police station and lodged a complaint against Rathinam. He had also threatened the little girl of dire consequences if she informed about his behaviour to anyone.

Police said that based on the complaint from the girl’s mother, Rathinam has been booked under two sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012 for molesting the minor girl and arrested him. Further investigations are on.
