4 more held in Chennai woman lynching case
Acting on orders from Tiruvannamalai SP MR Sibi Chakravarthy, Polur police on Wednesday arrested four more persons in connection with the death of a 65-year-old woman and another man who succumbed to injury, during a mob attack at a group of devotees from Chennai in May last year.

Those arrested on Wednesday were identified as Subash (48) and Joseph (42) of Gandhinagar, Rajendran (39) of Ganesapuram and Tirumalai (19) of Champangipuram, all villages near Polur.
It all started on May 9 last year, when a group of five people on the way to their family deity temple were attacked by a mob. The five members, who offered sweets to kids, were mistaken for child lifters when they asked for directions to the temple. Following this, an irate mob chased them intercepted their car and attacked the five inmates, including a woman. Rukmani (65), one of the inmates of the car, died on the spot. Another passenger, Gajendran (44) of Chennai, succumbed after being admitted to a hospital in Chennai.
Subsequently, cases were registered against 120 persons out of which 46 were arrested sometime back. Later, 27 of the 46 members came out on bail. Police are still searching foranother 74 in connection with the case.
