TTV to announce candidate tomorrow
The Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) will announce its candidate for the Tiruvarur bypoll on Friday, party leader TTV Dhinakaran told reporters here on Wednesday, adding that the AMMK is keen to contest all the vacant assembly seats in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing newspersons after attending the assembly, Dhinakaran said the Governor’s speech had nothing for the farmers and the public. “The Governor lauded the State Government for taking up cyclone Gaja relief works, but the situation on the field is completely different,” he said.
“For about two weeks, the people in delta region suffered without food, clothes and water. The ministers who went there for inspection were chased away by the public. When this is the situation, I don’t know how the Governor is able to praise the government,” the AMMK leader said.
The RK Nagar MLA also alleged that the ministers are raking up the issue of Jayalalithaa’s death for electoral gains. “They led this smear campaign during the RK Nagar election and are now attempting the same just ahead of the Tiruvarur bypoll contest,” he said, adding that the State Government is delaying the assembly bypolls fearing defeat.
“Both the Election Commission of India and the State Election Commission are helping the State Government by delaying the bypolls and civic polls,” Dhinakaran added.
Responding to ministers Shanmugham and Jayakumar, who have demanded a probe into Jayalalithaa’s death by a special investigation team, Dhinakaran said the AMMK was ready for any investigation, including by the CBI.
