While the meeting between the Tamil Nadu government and the teachers failed, the protesters gathered in large numbers at Rajarathinam stadium in the city and raised slogans against the State government for not looking into their issues.

Police sources said that nearly 15 persons, who had fainted in the stadium on Wednesday, were taken to Royapettah Government Hospital in the afternoon. The protesters also took a rally from the stadium to DPI office.

However, heavy security was deployed at the DPI and the protesters were able to stage protest demonstration only outside the complex to press their demands. The demonstrators said that their protest will continue till their demand were met.

    Stalin runs into TTV

Earlier in the day, Stalin visited the agitating secondary grade teachers and extended his support to them. Stalin urged the state government to immediately invite the agitating teachers for talks and sort out the pay anomalies cited by them to end the impasse. Curiously, Stalin ran in to AMMK leader TTV Dinakaran when he visited the DPI campus to express solidarity with the teachers. Dinakaran was near exiting just when Stalin entered the campus. The two leader briefly exchanged pleasantries before they parted ways.
