BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday launched a scathing attack on DMK president MK Stalin.

“Stalin masks his political inabilities by just questioning the BJP. Stalin should have visited every street in Tiruvarur that elected Kalaignar,” she told reporters and added, “Tiruvarur constituency of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi was severely hit by Cyclone Gaja and DMK leader Stalin has done nothing to Tiruvarur. The opposition leader just toured Delta for two days. He had failed to help Cyclone Gaja victims.”

"The DMK and the Congress are projecting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not expressed any support to the victims of Gaja. This is factually wrong. PM had already expressed that he will stand by the victims of Cyclone Gaja", she said.

"The Union government and various Central government enterprises, including Bharat Petroleum Corporation has been rendering relief works in the cyclone-hit districts. The Centre till now is coordinating with the state for executing the relief works. But, what has the opposition done except playing politics", Tamilisai asked.

“Stalin continues to target PM Modi for cheap politics. The DMK and the Congress in the state stand exposed. These are parties which fail to work for the welfare of the public,” she said. For instance, the Centre has sanctioned Rs 1,200 crore to establish AIIMS in Madurai, but the parties here fail to acknowledge it, she noted.

Sadist barb: VCK chief defends Stalin’s comments

VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan on Monday hit back at BJP state unit president Tamilisai Soundarajan for criticising DMK president MK Stalin by saying that saffron leaders are both ‘sadist’ and ‘saddest.’

While addressing reporters after paying respects to Periyar on his death anniversary, Thirumavalavan said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has time to visit the marriages of cine stars and is allotting time to meet businessmen, but has no time to visit the areas affected by Cyclone Gaja. There is nothing wrong in Stalin calling Modi a sadist.”

Recently, Stalin in the meeting to unveil the statue of late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi criticised Modi by calling him sadist. Stalin’s comment created furore among the BJP leaders and recently Tamilisai retaliated by calling Stalin saddest for announcing Congress president Rahul Gandhi as Prime Ministerial candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

However, Thirumavalavan came to the defence of Stalin by saying that only the saffron leaders are sadist for not understanding the plight of common man. Meanwhile, on the occasion of Periyar’s death anniversary, VCK cadre took pledge to weed out communalism and casteism from the state.
