Photocopy shop owner held for forging signature
Police arrested a photocopy shop owner for forging a doctor’s signature to allegedly help a boy change his Aadhaar details, in Vaniyambadi on Friday.
Vellore
The accused was identified as Venketesh. The doctor, Tanvi Ahamed, who runs an ENT hospital in the town, was approached by a boy who sought his seal on a document for changing his Aadhaar details. However, Ahamed was shocked to find his own signature on the document. Upon being questioned about where he got it from, the boy said a local photocopy shop owner had given it to him, and took to his heels.
Thereafter, the doctor lodged a complaint with the Vaniyambadi town police. After investigating, they found that the boy and his sister had approached the Aadhaar Centre in the municipal office to change their Aadhaar details. There, they were told to produce a certificate for the same.
Thereafter, one Sanaullah took them to the photocopy shop assuring them help. The shop’s owner handed over the certificate to the boy a day later with the forged signature. However, at the Aadhaar centre, they were told they would need the doctor’s seal as well. Therefore, when the boy had visited the doctor for the seal, he caught the forgery.
Thereafter, police arrested Venketesh and have also pulled in Sanaullah for questioning. A case has been registered.
