‘Consider ladies hostel owners’ plea’

Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana, disposed it after directing the administration to consider the representation of the association given on December 14 and told the Collector to pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within two weeks.

CHOWA represented by its secretary KS Manoharan submitted that the Collector on issuing guidelines, terms and conditions for running of hostels also directed the hostel owners to register their names with the Collector’s office on or before December 31, 2018.

Though the members are ready to comply with the conditions, the non-availability of the officers in the stipulated departments has resulted in them being unable to obtain the certificates on time, the plea said.

Also, on pointing out that many of the members had filed the application for registration with available certificates along with an undertaking that they would submit the certificates as and when received from the respective departments, the petitioner submitted that a detailed representation in this regard was sent on December 14, 2018, seeking six months extension. But lack of response has resulted in them being left with no option but to approach the court, the plea added.

However, Additional Advocate General A Kumar appearing for the state contended that the plea was not maintainable.
