Ravi, hailing from Gangavalli in Salem district, worked abroad and had visited his family, wife Rani (40) and daughters, Priya (23) and Brindha (21), and son Prakash (19), a month ago, said police.
“He used to visit his family members once in two years. During his visit this time, Ravi had frequent quarrels with his wife suspecting her to have developed an extra-marital affair,” police said.
Meanwhile, Ravi took his wife to hospital as she was unwell on Wednesday night. “In a short while after leaving the house, Ravi called up Prakash and claimed that Rani fell off from the bike,” police said.
Subsequently, Prakash rushed to the spot and found his mother dead with bleeding injuries on her head. Thereafter, they brought her body to the house. On Thursday, the family members of Rani lodged a complaint at the Gangavalli police station alleging that she was killed by her husband.
Initially, Ravi said that his wife died falling off from the bike. However, on further interrogation, he confessed to the truth and told the police that he had killed her by assaulting her with a stone on the way to the hospital.
