Plan your weekend: Kodiakarai is every nature lovers’ paradise

One of the major highlights of Kodiakarai is the Point Calimere Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary that includes the cape and its three natural habitat types — dry evergreen forests, mangrove forests, and wetlands. It holds large wintering populations of greater flamingos in India. Wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers and bird watchers come here to experience wildlife first hand. Not far from Point Calimere is the mangrove forest of Muthupet. Another must-visit is Kodiakarai beach flanked by Palk Straits to the south and Bay of Bengal to the east.
