    Woman stages kidnap drama held for killing 3-month-old girl

    Police arrested a woman on Saturday for killing her three month-old child near Perambalur and falsely reporting it as a kidnap. P Govindammal (30) from Thevaiyur village in Perambalur district had two children, seven-year-old girl and a three-month-old Prinitha.

    It is said, on Friday evening, Govindammal approached Perambalur police and lodged a complaint that her three-month-old baby was kidnapped. The police after receiving her complaint registered a case and were searching for the infant.

    In an elaborate inquiry, police found that Govindammal reportedly had an extramarital affair as her husband is working abroad. Fearing that her husband could find out the baby was born out of the illicit affair she would have killed the infant. Mangalamedu DSP Devaraj arrested Govindammal and she was remanded later. 

    Mother murders teenage girl, hangs self 

    Meanwhile, in Virudhunagar, a girl was murdered by her mother and the woman committed suicide allegedly after murdering her daughter.

    The incident occurred on Friday evening. The 17-year old girl, Abhinaya of Kamarajar Street, Mallankinaru in Virudhunagar district was murdered by her mother Rosy Jeba Jenci (35). Sources said Jenci, mother of the victim, admonished her daughter Abhinaya several times to give up her love affair. Both the mother and the daughter used to quarrel often over this issue. However, the situation turned worse after the quarrel between them intensified. Irked over this, Jenci assaulted Abhinaya after she failed to obey and tied her legs and hands to a cot and left gagged before strangulating her to death with a nylon rope. Subsequently, Jenci also committed suicide by hanging inside the house. Moments later, relatives of the deceased, attempted to conceal the murder and suicide after being embarrassed and tried to clandestinely bury the bodies. Based on a complaint lodged by Rajakani (48), breadwinner of the family, Mallankinaru police have filed a case.
