Now, book SETC bus tickets in online private portals too

A top official from the department said, “There will be no difference in the process of booking bus tickets. This is only an additional option given to the customers. In less than a week, the Corporation witnessed a visible change. Although it is a miniscule development, we are happy with the way things are turning out.”

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) introduced the online booking services for all the eight transport utilities, including theSETC, in 2011.

“Over the years, the private travel website facilitated booking of bus tickets for Omni buses. This is the first time; the transport corporation has introduced such a facility. The passengers prefer to book via private travel portals as the procedure is easier when compared to the SETC website,” said aregular commuter.

This comes at a time when the SETC has reduced the weekdays fare of air-conditioned sleeper buses, non air-conditioned sleeper buses, ultra classic buses by 10 percent. This revision has brought down the prices of each ticket by Rs 70 to Rs 150.

Another official said, “All the steps were taken with a sole aim to increase the number of passengers. We have no plans to revise the weekend fares as of now.” The SETC registered a dip in the number of passengers after the revision of ticket prices in the beginning of 2018.
