Gold, cash burgled from Triplicane home
Unidentified intruders escaped with around Rs 1.25 lakh and nine sovereigns from a house at Triplicane on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened when Selvam, a resident of Pazhani Amman Kovil Street in Triplicane, went to work and his wife Venmathi was alone at home. The police said Venmathi went to the terrace to dry clothes around 2 pm. She found the main door open and the valuables from the bureau missing when she returned downstairs. A case was registered and an investigation is on.
Meanwhile, a three-member gang robbed an employee of a star hotel in city near Little Mount on Thursday night. Police said the victim was returning home after work when he was robbed at knifepoint.
The police identified the victim as Lokendar (24), a native of Nepal. According to him, the gang was riding on a two-wheeler and brandished a knife at him before snatching a mobile phone and Rs 2,000 from him. The police are trying to identify the suspects with the help of CCTV camera footages from the neighbourhood.
