BJP trying to control RBI, says Vaiko

“Using the RBI Act, the BJP is interfering in the daily functioning of the RBI and had openly announced that the interference is to bring solution for the existing problems. Because of the excessive interference from the BJP former RBI Governors, Raguram Rajan, and Urjit Patel had resigned,” said Vaiko, in a statement.

Recently, there were controversies in the appointments made by the BJP government in RBI Directors board and it was followed by Urjit Patel resigning from the post of RBI Governor. Central government was criticised for excess interference in the RBI administration.

Vaiko too criticised the BJP stating that RSS and its leaders are continuously pressurising the RBI in various means.

“RSS leader Ashwini Mahajan had eventhreatened the RBI to divulge the excess amount of Rs 3.52 lakh crore of RBI to Central government for implementation of welfare schemes for the people,” said Vaiko.

Vaiko also alleged that BJP favoured RSS by appointing RSS members such as Gurumurthy, Sathish Marathe and Sachin Chaturvedi in the board of Directors of the RBI.

Vaiko further said that demonetisation was the brainchild of Sakthikanta Das. He was close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.
