HC questions Centre on final report on Gaja
The Madurai bench of Madras High Court on Wednesday questioned the central government advocate on when a report based on assessment on damages caused by cyclone Gaja would be submitted.

According to Central government’s assistant solicitor general V Kathirvel, “The central government sought explanations from the state government regarding the cyclone Gaja, but there was no proper response. Hence, it caused delay in the report submission.” Subsequently, the bench sought the state government for reasons behind the delay in responding to the central government. Later, the bench adjourned the case to December 17.
Damage assessment centres opened at VAO offices
Thanjavur district Collector A Annadurai said, public could submit their petitions regarding the damages by Gaja cyclone at the damage assessment centres opened at the Village Administrative Offices across the district, on Wednesday. He said as per the orders of the Madurai bench of MHC the village administrative officers have been instructed to receive petitions from the public.
