Girl flees Vellore home in search of parents, saved by Chennai cops
A 19-year-old girl who escaped from an orphanage in Vellore and reached Chennai in search of her parents, was rescued by the police on Monday.

Police identified the girl as Ambika, an orphan, staying at a government orphanage in Vellore. On Monday, public noticed a young girl on the Tambaram-Darkas road, enquiring locals if they identified anyone by the name Sundaram, who is said to be her father. However, while speaking the girl swooned. Locals immediately informed to the police and after regaining conscious the girl was taken to Somangalam police station. However, the police were unable verify her claims.
During the enquiry police found that the girl had been staying in various orphanages from a very young age. When she was in Class 9 she had attempted suicide and hence she had been shifted to Kelly’s government home. When she turned 18, she was again shifted to Vellore orphanage. From Vellore she escaped to Chennai in search of her parents.
Police said she hadcome to Chennai on Friday and was searching for her parents alone.
Ambika told the police that she had not met her mother but she remembers her father. She also told the police that she wants to be with her parents and does not want to continue the rest of her life in theorphanage. Somangalam police said that they would send her back to Vellore.
