Actor’s wife rescued from Ooty, 5 secured
Actor and producer ‘Power Star’ Srinivasan, who returned to the city from Udhagamandalam after his wife Julie lodged a complaint that he had been kidnapped, on Sunday night lodged a complaint with the CMBT police that his wife was detained by the kidnappers, after which police rushed to the hill station and rescued her.

The police said that five suspects were secured with the help of the Ooty police and will be brought to the city for further investigation. As Julie had lodged a similar complaint that her husband was kidnapped, police held an inquiry with Srinivasan before going to Ooty.
Clearing the confusion over the series of ‘kidnaps’, Srinivasan explained in his complaint that he received a call from a Public Relations officer identified as Preethi on December 3 that film producers want him to act in a new movie and asked him to visit a hotel in Koyambedu on December 5. Around 12 noon, a seven-member gang reached the room where Srinivasan was waiting and demanded that he return Rs 90 lakh, which he had borrowed from one Alam of Bengaluru.
Though he said he had promised Alam that he would transfer the ownership of his house in Ooty to the latter’s name, they kidnapped Srinivasan on December 6 and took him to Ooty. Later, they made his wife Julie come to Ooty as the property was in her name.
However, it is not clear how Srinivasan escaped from the kidnappers’ custody. He reportedly reached the city on Sunday and lodged a complaint that his wife was in danger. The CMBT police rescued Julie and secured five persons, including Alam.
