Man held for raping daughter for 4 yrs, 18-year-old went through 4 abortions

The police said that the suspect was a college graduate and the son of a sub-inspector attached to the Traffic wing of the Chennai city police.

The accused and the girl were neighbours and were initially friendly, but on Saturday, the man took the girl to the terrace and allegedly showed her obscene photographs. He then tried to sexually assault her. The girl, however, managed to escape and confided in her parents following which a complaint was registered against the man.

On Sunday, he was arrested under the POCSO act and remanded in judicial custody.

In a similar incident last week, a sub-inspector was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a school girl.

The Kancheepuram police arrested a 45-year-old man on Sunday who allegedly raped his daughter, since she was 14, and impregnated her many times.

The man was employed in a private company as a daily labourer. He was remanded in judicial custody.

The police said that the victim, now 18-year-old and a college student, filed a complaint at an all women police station in Kancheepuram.

The police noted that her father had raped her a number of times in the last four years and she had to undergo abortion thrice. The accused threatened to kill his wife and son, if the daughter resisted his advances.

Sources in the police said that she escaped to her grandparent’s house when her father attempted to rape her in September. She was found to be pregnant and underwent an abortion for the fourth time a few weeks ago.
