BJP man battling for life after gang attack in Kovai

According to police, Samy alias Udaya Kumar (45), zonal general secretary of the party’s Velandipalayam area, was conversing with partymen at his shop in Kalveerampalayam when a gang entered into a quarrel with him.

As the clash escalated, the men began to attack Samy with sickles. He suffered deep cut injuries on his head and shoulder. The assailants also ransacked his car and the shop before they fled from the spot.

A profusely bleeding Samy was taken to a private hospital where he is undergoing treatment. He is set to be in a critical condition.

On receiving information, the Vadavalli police rushed to the spot and held inquiries. Using the CCTV camera footage, the police are tracing the identity of the men who attacked Samy.

As Samy is also into real estate business, police suspect the deadly attack could be due to business rivalry or previous enmity. A large posse of police personnel have been deployed in the locality to prevent any untoward incidents. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
