Ailing T’malai seer ‘Mookupodi’ Siddhar passes away, aged 62
Famous seer ‘Mookupodi’ Siddhar (62) died at an ashram in the temple town of Tiruvannamalai in the early hours of Sunday.
Chennai
He was ill for the past few days after he suffered a fall. Since then, he did not eat or drink anything and was staying at Shadastri Ashram in Tiruvannamalai. Siddhar came to Tiruvannamalai about 30 years ago and spent his time in the streets, roads, temple halls, mandapams and mountains. He got the moniker as he inhaled mookupodi (tobacco powder) frequently. He was mostly seen wearing a green shawl and did not speak much to his devotees. Devotees used to wait for long hours to get one or two words from him. It was believed that if he spoke to or looked at anyone’s face, that person must have got his blessings.
RK Nagar MLA and Amma Makkal MunnetraKazhagam founder TTV Dhinakaran was an ardent devotee of the Siddhar and used to visit him before taking any important decisions.
