Sources said that the move to detain her under the act was being contemplated seriously by officials as Anandi was arrested twice earlier on same charges and was released on bail.

Meanwhile, Collector KS Kandasamy along with police officials inspected the multi-storeyed house of Anandi on Wednesday night and found that it had secret chambers at the basement, besides a swimming pool on the top floor. Officials are investigating the need for Anandi to set up the secret chambers.

Kandasamy later told media persons that Anandi would have performed more than 19,000 abortions approximately in the last 15 years.

A joint special team of police and health officials have been formed to find out if any of the abortion’s performed by Anandi resulted in death’s.

In another development in the case, officials have frozen 9 bank accounts in the names of Anandi, husband Tamilselvan and their son. The officials also froze immovable properties belonging to the quack in 9 different locations. Further investigation is on.
